Jeffrey Hall conducted a study which determined it takes 50 hours for two people to become “casual friends.” That number jumped to 200 hours of quality time to become “close friends.”

Jeffrey Hall talks with Jack Eason about the length of time it takes to cement real and lasting relationships.

He is an Associate Professor of Communication Studies at the University of Kansas. Hall recently conducted a study where he determined that it takes about 50 hours of time spent together for two people to become “casual friends.”  And that number jumped to at least 200 hours of quality time to become “close friends.”

Jeffrey Hall holds a Ph.D. from University of Southern California, and his focus is on Relationships & Social Interaction.
